Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to start learning but I don't have a saxophone, what can I do?

If you don’t have your own saxophone, we can provide you with one on your first consultation lesson at no extra charge.
We highly recommend getting your own instrument if you decide to continue lessons, as this will allow you to make steady progress.

What levels do you teach?

We teach, and have taught, students ranging from complete beginners to seasoned professionals, so no matter where you are in your musical journey, we can definitely help you.

How long is a 1:1 lesson?

1:1 lessons are 60 minutes long for adults and 30 minutes long for children under 12.

Do I need any musical experience to start?

Not at all! Our courses and lessons are perfect for complete beginners. You’ll learn everything from producing a good note, playing songs, technique, timing and more.

What will I learn in the Introduction to Saxophone course?

This is a powerful 5-week group class with maximum 5 students per class. During the course you will gain a solid general overview of how to play the saxophone. This includes: embouchure, producing a consistent note, fingerings, timing, rhythm and one new tune a week.
The course concludes with a friendly group performance in the final session.

Can I rent a saxophone from LSS?

Yes, you can, but instrument rentals are available exclusively to students enrolled in the Introduction to Saxophone course.

Can I continue learning after the Introduction to Saxophone course?

Absolutely! Most students continue with private lessons or our intermediate group classes to keep improving and refining their skills.

Do you prepare for Saxophone Grades?

Yes, we can upon student request.
If you’d like to work on grades we are happy to help you understand which grade is best for you and prepare you for it at the best of your ability.

How do I book a lesson or course?

You can book directly through our website or by emailing us at info@londonsaxophoneschool.com.

What styles of music will I learn?

We teach a range of styles including jazz, pop, blues, and classical. You can focus on the style that inspires you most.

3. What saxophone should I buy or rent as a beginner?

For most adults, we recommend starting with an alto saxophone.  If you’re unsure which brand or model to get, we’re happy to guide you during your consultation.

5. Do you offer online lessons?

Yes, we teach students worldwide through high-quality online lessons. You’ll receive the same personalized feedback as you would in person.

For a more complete and ongoing level of guidance, we recommend applying for our online mentorship.

6. What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit/debit cards and bank transfers. For course enrollments, payment must be completed before the first session.

7. What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice. Lessons cancelled with less notice will be charged in full.
